The University of Montana Rural Institute
Center for Excellence in Disability Education, Research, and Service, is part of
the national network of programs funded by the Federal Administration on Developmental
Disabilities (ADD) committed to increasing and supporting the independence, productivity,
and inclusion of persons with disabilities into the community.
The Rural Institute has been pioneering research and demonstration projects focusing
on developing self-employment outcomes for people with disabilities. This website has

START-UP USA Entrepreneurial Leadership Network
The Entrepreneur Leadership Network is made up of a nationally recognized group of
individuals with disabilities who have successfully become self-employed as well as family
members who have supported them. Participating members have agreed to work with START-UP /
USA on activities to include research, technical assistance, and resource development and
dissemination. Members of the Entrepreneur Leadership Network will provide technical
assistance to the three funded ODEP Priority 2 projects. This peer-to-peer mentor model will
be instrumental in START-UP / USA's ability to increase knowledge and understanding of problems,
issues, and effective strategies related to self-employment.
