What do you feel you could offer people as a Support Broker?
As a Support Broker, I feel I can offer the individual (and the team) the expertise and knowledge necessary to provide solid, positive supports.
Do you have specific talents, skills, or expertise that might help in considering which people may be referred to you? (Examples: proficient in sign language, foreign language, experience with residential or vocational service coordination, person-centered planning, etc.)
- I am a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.
- I have written several Behavioral Support Plans (from scratch).
- Extensive, quality experience with Residential Service Coordination.
- Program Development.
- Excellent follow up and follow through.
- Exceptional communication to foster positive and working relationships.
- Ongoing experience with dually diagnosed.
Do you have experience helping people around certain issues e.g., medical, psychological or physical challenges? Are you familiar with housing programs like Section 8 or Movin' Out?
I feel I am resourceful and have the right knowledge, experience and education
to assist the individual (and family/friends, providers) in whatever needs, wants,
concerns, fears, challenges and life may bring/offer.
I have a good understanding of various medications, and a wide scope understanding
of behavioral supports and challenges. My expertise lies within supporting people
with challenging behaviors and creating supports around the individual.
Have you worked with people from different ethnic or cultural backgrounds? Older people, younger people?
I have worked with individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds, old and
young. My concern and support is with the person, not with the age, ethnicity,
etc. I know and understand that these may be factors when supporting individuals
with developmental disabilities, but I like to focus on the individual in front of
me, then determine the various factors that may influence this person in significant
ways.
My long term experience is with the adult population (18 and older).
Are there any recent accomplishments, personal or professional, that you are proud of and willing to share?
- I am proud to have graduated with a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology - focus in Community Counseling - from the University of Milwaukee.
- I am also proud to have achieved certification as a brain injury specialist.
- I attend and participate with the Brain Injury Coalition Meetings monthly and sat on the Brain Injury Advisory Board.
- I received recognition for "Making A Difference" with the residential supports I provided.
Is there any additional information you care to include? Is there anything about yourself (experiences, education, personal interests) that you feel distinguishes you from other Support Brokers?
I would encourage folks to contact me as I know there is more to me and you than "looking good on paper." Look forward to meeting with you soon.
